Xtreme 13: Trapeze School

Xtreme 13 has begun... Our inaugural event was the Trapeze School of New York located in Washington, DC. There isn't much to say other than we had a really good time. The class was 2hrs long and we did about six jumps and my Babe did one catch. You have to call and schedule your visit and they take you in groups of 10. (You aren't required to have 10 people in YOUR party) They give you a quick verbal lesson and then show you an actual example. The staff instructs you every step of the way so don't worry.

When I say instruct I mean instruct, they say go, bring your knees up, let your hands go, put your hands back up, thumbs under, swing forward, backward, forward, flip, let go... Since I can show you better than I can tell you here goes. WAIT!!! They have a photographer snapping pictures if it's your first time and you can buy them at the end. They aren't really expensive either. Okay now look!

Walking in...

I thought I would be afraid of the height but no,
climbing this ladder was the scariest part. lol

I was so unsure the very first time. You have to lean out to the bar and it naturally wants to carry you off. (Someone is holding me from behind to make sure that doesn't happen until I put both hands on and jump off) Once you conquer that part you are golden.

This is a great shot, both hands are on and I just had to jump.

Hanging by my knees

I was so proud, I wasn't so sure I could kick my legs up
to even put them on the bar.

I was having fun swinging

Smiling for the camera

Now you want me to do what?
(I did a back flip to get down)

Landing safely is funny apparently...

Flipping off the ropes like a pro. HA!

Here is a video of me in complete action!

My Babe took it up a notch because he is just so damn good at
EVERY SPORT so he did a catch!

He was really nervous but he did it!

YAY!!!!

Now watch him do it.

The next morning the following things hurt, my hands, raising my arms up, my calf muscles hurt the most, walking up and down the steps, and my mid-section which will someday house a flat stomach.

All year I will share our Xtreme 13 activities here on my blog, I hope you are inspired/empowered to add some into your 2013.

Next up indoor scuba diving.
